Our Mission and Vision
Hey there!
We are coffee leaves: café and bakery. We are a locally owned small business opened in 2021 that aims to bring delicious and sustainable coffee and bakery items to our community. We use coffee beans from small coffee growers to produce fresh and delicious coffee for our customers. We currently have only one location open which is in Tacoma, Washington. If you would like to stop by, our store hours are 7 am-3 pm on Sundays, 6 am-5 am on Mondays through Fridays and 7 am-4 pm on Saturdays. In response to our society’s recovery from covid, we have opened our business up for the public with outdoor dining and takeout. Of course, face masks are still required inside our coffee shop unless you are fully vaccinated.
We will be talking about the importance of shopping at local businesses, supporting businesses that are using sustainable products and methods, and supporting small coffee growers.
One of the most important reasons is that when people support the local business, it strengthens the local economy to promote future growth. Because when people purchase local products in abundance, those small business owners will see the community as a desirable place to continue growing their business. A small business can be a big boost in helping the economy.

Most importantly it creates more jobs and opportunities. A local business that becomes a success will continue to grow and expand, eventually opening more job positions that will be filled by local employees.
Moving on, regarding business sustainability, at coffee leaves, we believe in sustainable food and drinks to leave future generations with a world they can be proud of. That is why we use compostable cups, welcome reusable cups, and get our coffee beans from small farmers.
As for the importance of using sustainable products, locally sourced materials and products have many environmental benefits. They produce less waste by reducing the amount of packaging being used. Less packaging means less waste and less demand on landfill sites. Buying locally reduces the processing of goods and transportation waste, which leads to less pollution.
We are aware that sustainable coffee practices are an integral part of the longevity of small family-owned coffee farms. With sustainable growing comes the ability to produce a higher quality bean and increase crop levels. The other side of sustainability can be met by purchasing fair-trade coffee; as it assures you that the farmers are receiving fair value for their coffee while maintaining fair labor and production efforts.
Also, local beans are much fresher than what you purchase from a grocery store. Most beans at the grocery store generally travel a great distance over the course of days or weeks. Beans purchased directly from a farm are often picked within 24-48 hours of being purchased.
